Psychotherapy & Occupational Psychotherapy
According to the Health & Safety Executive, up to 5 million
people in the UK feel very or extremely stressed by work &
approximately half a million people believe work related stress
is making them ill. Stress & anxiety are often caused
by home life as much as work, but it often manifests at work
or results in absence.
Speaking about the rise in stress related illness, Mansel
Aylward, Medical Director and Chief Scientist to the DWP,
said that for around 70% of people attending GP surgeries,
there is no pathological reason for the extent of their symptoms.
In its 2004 survey, the CIPD found that sickness absence
cost businesses £ 588 per employee each year and that
over half of employers surveyed believe that stress is on
the increase.
Our point of view is that mind & body are interconnected
and that addressing the underlying cause of the symptom is
the key to resolving the presenting problem.
We offer a brief focused Psychotherapy taking 6-15 sessions
depending on the type of issue. Many people have found it
to be a simple and effective way to overcome problems, work
related or more personal, and get on with their lives.
We can help with most issues, including:
- Stress management
- Emotional issues, e.g. anger
- Anxiety & depression
- Trauma
- Lack of self esteem
- Relationships
- Eating disorders
- Abuse related issues

"Stress is a poor term
that misses the point.
Instead of giving out
a sicknote, GP's should
say, "what are you
going to do about it?"
